CITIZENSHIP: Citizenship in Montserrat, a British Overseas Territory, is primarily obtained through the status of a British Overseas Territories Citizen (BOTC), which can be acquired by birth in Montserrat, descent from a Montserratian parent, or by being born before January 1, 1983 and meeting specific criteria related to residency or parental status; essentially, anyone born in Montserrat before 1983 automatically became a BOTC on that date
BY BIRTH: People born in Montserrat to parents who are BOTCs automatically become BOTCs.
